WHEW......was I ever angry and pissed last night about 9pm when I started to write....and then realized that the internet/wifi was no longer!!!!!! DAMN!!!! And, to think that we had to pay several bucks for this wifi which was supposed to be good for the duration that we were at Shipshewana!!! Oh well..........can't control it all, can I????
Becky and Rachel arrived about 1:30AM yesterday.......and so they were pretty much wiped out during the morning hours. The 1st Lady and I went to the Waffle Breakfast.....and, as usual....they were OUTSTANDING!!! Yummy!!
Becky left around 10am or so......and then we just sort of hung out around the RV park. Then later we took a ride around town....NOTHING was open except Subway and a couple of gas stations!!!! Not one restaurant, not one shop.....NOTHING!!! Remember??? This is Amish country. We did find one ice cream stand open about 3 miles north of town.....and of course, we had to each have one!
Rachel did get to see several horse and buggies going through town........she was excited about seeing them, too. We discussed the Amish way of Life with her......and, here again....it was difficult for her to understand/comprehend their type of lifestyle.
Last night......it was just spent in getting TheHowserHouse ready to get on the road.....packing things away in a safe place, checking all eight tires on the truck and rv......putting away things that we had used.....and making certain that almost all was ready by departure time of 7:30am.
TODAY.....
Yep....we drove out of the RV park at 7:45am........we elected to not go in the 11 truck/rv's caravan. So, we got out of the RV park ahead of them......and around lunch time we pulled into a Rest Area....and it wasn't too long before they all rolled into the Rest Area, also!!! WHAT a truck parking area.......FILLED with Cedar Creek 5th wheel rv's!!!!!! We finished our lunch under the tall trees.....and continued on to the Port Huron bridge to Canada. We were two miles away from there when all of a sudden....the traffic became a parking lot!!!! And.....for 40 minutes we almost crawled to the bridge....stopping and starting...over and over again.
Finally, we paid our $7 and crossed the bridge over to Canada.....and then another crawl as we slowly slipped into the immigration/passport control area. A few questions and we were soon on our way.........no inspection of TheHowserHouse.....not even a look at our passports. Of course, that will come as we re-enter the USA.
We finally arrived around 5pm or so.......horrific traffic coming through the Hamilton, Ontario area which is north of Niagara Falls, along the Lake. We had great instructions to the Jellystone RV Park......using our new GPS/Garmin. We managed to get into our site.....a couple of trees in our way for the slides, but we scooted a bit more forward and to the opposite and soon we were all set up with the umbilical cords all attached.
We had a bit of supper.......we were all pretty much wiped out. It was about 437 miles......more than we usually drive in one day while towing....plus the last hour was sooooo filled with rush hour traffic. Tonight we are just kicking back and watching a little of the tellie's programs....and it rained hard a couple of times during the late afternoon/early evening.
Tomorrow....???? Well, the weather doesn't sound tooo good....damn it. So, we will just modify our plans accordingly.
It has been two great days......albeit a tiring one, today!!!!....However,
LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
