The 1st Lady and I had a relaxing morning......breakfast, Fr. Roast coffee and tea. We picked up Doug and Diane a few minutes after 10am.....and left for the short drive to the border. I made one stop along the highway as I needed to take a couple of photos of two electrical poles and the wires which formed a very visual "W"......one of the letters of the alphabet that I have to find and photograph for our Photo Club meeting next week. We then pulled into the parking lot, paid the $2 and parked the truck.
As always....it is soooo easy to go over into Mexico: pay the $.25 to cross the bridge....and voila!!! You are in Mexico!!! There were tons of people over there this morning......and, of course, 99% were senior citizens!
We turned into the little hat arcade which led back to several medical offices in a tight little plaza, along with a barber/beauty shop. Diane and Doug and myself had all decided to get haircuts and with the little shop full of people wanting to get their hairs trimmed.....it was over an hour for the single barber to finish with all of us. I got a great haircut......and it was even better because it only cost $4.00!!!!! WHAT a bargain!!!!!!!
By the time Doug and I were through, the girls had left, saying they would meet us at Elsa's Cafe.......and so, we made our through the crowded sidewalks until we got there. Entering the cafe, it was full of people in the front and in the rear dining room.....but they were not there. Soooo, we left the cafe....and quickly saw Diane and the 1st Lady coming our way with a couple of people with them. Well.........it turned out to be two members of our Cedar Creek RV Owners Club.......Bob and Donna from Wisconsin!!!!! The 1st Lady and I had met them in Indiana about a year and a half ago.....and it was certainly great to see them again!!!
Then the six of us all went to Angel's.......a great restaurant up on the 3rd or 4th floor of a corner building in Progreso. With live music pouring forth from the man at the keyboards, we were seated at a large round table and soon were munching on fresh tortilla chips, salsa, hot peppers.......great stuff!!!!!!!!!! Margaritas were brought to all of us.....the free ones that come with the lunch menu. They went down soooooo easy....and soon we had HUGE margaritas placed in front of us.
Our orders for lunch were placed with a friendly waiter......and with the help of the margaritas we had some great discussions among the six of us.........and lots of laughs with our conversation!!!! Soon our meals arrived........with three of us having the Azteca lunch.....a great meal without being too much! Warm tortillas with fresh shrimp in a seafood sauce with tomatoes between each tortilla......and nice and warm!!!! Soooo good!!!!
After the meal, we danced to the live music, took some pictures with the waiters, as well as the "silver man" who visited the restaurant.......a guy in western dress but all completely silver, including himself. We just had a super time there.....great music, great food, great service.....and, above all.......being with great friends!!!!!! Sooooooo damn much fun!!!!!
Leaving the restaurant....we did some shopping. The 1st Lady and I did go one of the larger stores where they have some great pots....flower pots....for sale. We found the same two we had looked at two weeks ago.....and after talking with the sales clerk about how we would get these huge pots back to the states and our parking lot, we decided to purchase them. GREAT bargain.......two huge pots for $33.00!!!!!! And then.........one of the clerks stacked them carefully onto a two wheeler.....and off we went to the bridge and over to the USA.
Our "carrier" wheeled the pots down the street, got to the bridge, and I paid his $.25 to cross the bridge, but when we got to the passport control point, he informed me that he had no paperwork to enter the states, so he told me he would meet across the street at the entrance to the bridge there. Soooo, I took over the two wheeler, pushing the large pots up through the passport control area, talking with the passport checkers....and then pushing the pots into the USA. I took them across the street/road...and then unloaded them off the two wheeler, left them with the 1st Lady standing over them, while I took the two wheeler back to the bridge, back into Mexico, and gave it to the clerk who was waiting there for me. THEN....back across the street, and back into the line to have my passport checked AGAIN and then back into the states I went.
I went to get the truck, and drove it over to the 1st Lady and the pots. Doug then assisted me get them into the back of the truck....and off we drove....back to Llano Grande RV Resort where we unloaded them at TheHowserHouse. Where are these pots to go???? We plan to take them to Wyoming this summer for our rv site out there which we purchased last year.
The 1st Lady and I spent a couple of hours resting and having the time to rid ourselves of our margarita heads......and soon, we were on our way to a square dance. Two hours of dancing.....and back to the resort for the rest of the evening.
It has been a fun day..........always is fun in Mexico!!!!! And, as always.......
LIFE IS JUST REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
