Day 16, Jan 16, 2010: A BEAUTIFUL DAY, albeit a bit windy

WOW!!!!!!! When I came downstairs this morning around 7am.....I noticed the light getting brighter through the blinds......opened them up...and there was the most gorgeous sun rise behind the tall palm trees that line the streets here in Llano Grande RV Resort. My windows are still very dirty......and so I did not attempt to capture this with my digital camera. However....this morning just grew into a wonderful day with the temps flirting around 70 degrees, some clouds competing with the sun.....and some high winds over over 30 mph. BUT...there was not gray overcast sky, no drizzles, no rain, and no below normal temps!!!

The 1st Lady and I left the resort about 10:30 to go to the post office. From there we went to the fruit and veggie mkt........and while there were some incredible bargains for this wonderful fresh produce, we only purchased some items that didn't need refrigeration since our fridge is bursting at the seams. We then crossed the highway to the Don-Wes Flea Market.....a huge one...and with the great weather, the crowds there were sooooo huge that it made it almost impossible to go and down the aisles of the various buildings and stalls. We didn't stay long as it was just not any fun to be pushed and shoved by sooooo many people!

Returning to TheHowserHouse, we had a bite of lunch. I did some work online.........and before too long, the afternoon was gone. I made a run to Walmart......picked up some necessary items and then returned. And.....because it took soooo long to make the run over to Walmart......our friends had arrived at TheHowserHouse for drinks/Happy Hour before I returned.

Soooo, I came inside and we chatted, laughed, and had a couple of drinks during the next hour or more. It was dark when they left.....and then I scurried around and grilled some fresh, red bell peppers, some new fresh mushrooms, and three incredible hamburgers. We had purchased some freshly ground beef at the McAllen organic market....and, OMG....what a difference it makes to actually have FRESH hamburger/meat to enjoy. The flavor is wonderful.......and it will be soooo difficult to go back to that frozen stuff that grocery stores label as "fresh meat". Wonderful!!!

After dinner, the 1st Lady watched a bit of the tellie....and then went to bed. She has spent the entire day with a lot of sinus drainage which has caused a sore throat for her. NOT good.....as the dampness is pretty high around here, even with the strong winds today.

The scenes from the news coverage of the disaster in Haiti are horrific. Such a terribly poor country to start with....and then to have this happen to them. Very sad......very disturbing to see this and to hear the stories of sooooooo many thousands who are suffering soooo greatly.

Tomorrow????? GREAT weather again is expected......and we do have some commitments during the afternoon....should be great fun!!!!

As always........

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
