Well......as predicted yesterday, the rains began during the night.....and by the time I came downstairs at 7am....it was raining hard...and had been doing that for some time. We had breakfast after the morning rituals......hot coffee(you know the kind) and some hot tea for the 1st Lady. Before long, we located the umbrellas, and plunged out into the deluge, racing to the truck and fumbling as we attempted to enter the truck with the umbrellas extended....must have been a humorous scene for anyone watching us....haha!!!
We picked up Doug and Diane....who were dashing between the buckets of raindrops.....and not very successful were they! But......we were on our way.....driving through flooded streets, the main road out of this area...Mile 2 W Road.....was flooded with the low areas holding small lakes of muddy water.....and still the rain pounded down on the RGV.
We drove.....carefully, I might add...along Expressway 83 west....and suddenly ahead of us were red lights...tail lights as everyone's brakes were being pressed quickly.....as there had been a one car accident in the middle of the 3-4 lane highway. Everybody managed to slow down quickly enough so that there were no more accidents.....we passed this car noticing no highway patrol or other offical cars were there yet....and continued our wet drive to Pharr to the morning square dance.
Well.....I thought that perhaps with the rains being sooo heavy that there might not be as many people as usual......WRONG I was!!!! The place was packed....very few spaces for parking were left....and the hall was crowded beyone anything I have seen there in Tropic Gardens. However.....there was room for all of the squares......and for two hours we danced, talked, and laughed our way through several squares where we, or others, didn't do as well as we should have....which made it much more fun!!!!!
We returned....with out the rains.....and were back in TheHowserHouse by 12:45.....sure the knowledge of the time is of vital interest to all of you readers!! The remainder of the afternoon went by rather quickly.....the 1st Lady took a load of laundry up to the laundromat in our section of the resort....and found no one else there so it was easy to get things washed and dried quickly.
I managed to take a nap....and awakened to feeling really great!!! I fixed myself some coffee using my French Press....but, it wasn't too good as I had forgotten the formula for the coffee/water ingredients, so I used my finely ground Fr. Roast coffee and it should have been just roughly ground....not into a powder which makes such great dark, rich coffee.
We had a great little dinner.......linguine with garlic shrimp and some baby peas.....a really good combination. Some Norton wine.....a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon....and some Rhine wine for the 1st Lady.........a really good dinner!!!
And, still it rains....and is predicted to continue off and on through tomorrow. UGH!!!!!! Sure will be glad when this little storm is finished!!!!! Tomorrow?????? Not sure as yet.....one of those unplanned days....one that we will just accept as the day progresses.
As always in TheHowserHouse.......
LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!
