Jackson Hole Day

Woke up this morning at 6 and looking out the window, the sun was coming over the mts. and it looked like a beautiful day, but suddenly the valley filled with fog…..and the sun did not make its appearance until later this afternoon. LOTS of clouds that covered the tops of the mountains until later in the day.

We went to Jackson Hole, driving up the Snake River Canyon for about 25 miles following the rain swollen river. Lots of kayakers and groups of rafters flying down the swift river, dodging the rocks and cliffs along the side of the river. Amazing how many people were on the river today!!!

Jackson Hole……..quite the western and tourist town. The majority of the clothing stores were filled with western wear and cowboy hats……and VERY, VERY pricey!!!!! We found a small eatery that the 1st Lady of TheHowserHouse and I had eaten in seven years ago when we were last here……and it was a wonderful experience today as well as when we were here before. If you are ever here, you must stop in there: “The Bunnery”. It is a great bakery with wonderful sandwiches, salads, soups, and after dinner cakes and pies. The stuffed croissants are incredible as well as the carrot cake!!

This touristy town is right at the bottom of many ski runs…….in the winter you can ski down the mt. and you are right in the town. We stopped in at the Million Dollar Bar where all the bar seats are horse saddles that you sit on/in. On each corner of the town square….a beautiful park…..are elk antler arches…….a very cool touch!!! As you walk around the center of town, there are many art and photo art shops and galleries…….lots of fun to pop into and look at the art displays for free. Ran across a Eddie Bauer shop with fantastic sales on men’s jeans……so, I just had to have a couple of pair.

Big Sue: it took me an hour to recover from our phone conversation on the streets of Jackson Hole!!! And then.....I get back to TheHowserHouse and read your email, and find myself rolling on the floor with fits of laughters!!!!! What a sense of humor!!!

Drove up to Teton National Park to the Headquarters so that I could get my Golden Age Passport…..this allows me FREE entrance to all National Parks and Monuments, plus 50% discounts on campgrounds in the these Parks and the campgrounds in the National Forests. Soooo, I now have this “old age” passport and am now getting my Social Security checks…….Life is just toooooo good!!!

We returned to the incredible Star Valley late this afternoon. No matter what kind of weather…..it is such a marvelous place to be experiencing life. We visited in another RV unit with some new found friends who are leaving in the morning for an 8 week trip to Alaska……..how jealous I am!!! But……with surrounding beauty like I have here……I will not complain.

Andrew…..if you read this, I’ll call tomorrow. The only problem might be the spotty service here…….just depends on which end of TheHowserHouse I am in when I call, and even that is not dependable.

I’m posting some new pics I took today as we went up the Snake River Canyon, along with a couple taken in Jackson Hole. Each day is a different day……and one that brings new experiences to add new chapters to my life!
