OMG......up early to go down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast buffet.....and then with a bit more coffee, I walked over to the Malaga Hotel, which was the official wedding hotel......the entire hotel rented for wedding guests. Some of the guys were already in the courtyard where we gathered to leave for our sailing day!
A 30 minute drive with 10 of us over to the east side of the Bay where the marina was located. A friend of Anne-Marie's family has a 36' sailboat.....and after loading the beer/liquor, boxes of sandwiches from a local deli, brownies, and cookies......we were soon motoring out of the marina area....and out into the bay we went. The motor was turned off....and the sails hoisted and soon we were skimming across Mobile Bay.
For the next 4 hours plus, we enjoyed seeing the Bay, having a onboard party....and trying to stay in the sun as the winds were very cold coming off of the Bay's waters. It was a really good time....and everyone enjoyed this sailing experience. GREAT TIMES!!!!!!!!!
Returning to Mobile, all of us went to Francia's.....the formal wear rental shop where we tried on our tuxes....and then were soon on our way back to the city center. More people were arriving, flying in....and driving to Mobile, if not too far away. Soon it was time to get ready to leave for the rehearsal...and from there to the evening's party and dinner........our turn to entertain everyone.
We boarded the charter bus which took us to the Museum of Mobile.....the location of the wedding on Saturday evening. The rehearsal went as all rehearsals go......a quick run-through as the 12 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen, the several flower girls, and ring bearers went through their processionals....and then we all loaded the bus and went to the Club here in the city center where we were hosting the evening's dinner, drinks, music, etc., etc.
The Club was another BIG WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Decorated simply, but with elegance with soooooooooo many balloons floating against the ceiling, gorgeous tables and chairs and the food stations spread around for ease of serving and filling of plates. Music was by two young men who did a super job performing for us during the next few hours!!!!!
The meal was delicious......the bar tenders did a super job......and everyone had a marvelous time. With shrimp/octopus salad, dips, cheeses, veggies, and soooooooo many other items to choose from, as well as wonderful roast beef served from another table. Around 100 people were there......everyone was invited who were in town for the festivities....and we were sooooo excited that we had soooo many guests for the evening.
After dinner......the wonderful video of pictures that were put together of Jay and Anne-marie's early life evolving into their young adults lives and then to their meeting and the past couple of years. Artfully done......it was very well-received and great fun!!! Following that, the toasts to various people were given by relatives and friends.........and then the party continued throughout the remainder of the evening.
We were almost the last to leave, but the bus was making shuttle runs back and forth from the Club to the hotels a few blocks away......so took the final shuttle back. Arriving at the hotel, I located my sister and her husband, her daughter and husband and daughter who are in our hotel. We visited with them for a brief time....and then I went up to the Skyview Lounge on the top floor overlooking the beautiful lighted city....where I found my niece's husband.....and we soon left to walk over to the Malaga Hotel to the wedding's Hospitality Room were we had more drinks and snacks with many of the wedding party/guests, etc. Another great finish to just an AMAZING, INCREDIBLE day and EVENING!!!!!!!!! Our party/dinner was a huge success and we were soooooooo happy about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
