MONDAY……
Another beautiful day, it was…it was!!!!! The temps warmed up into the middle 60’s, still very cool for this part of Florida, but the winds were not as strong and finally abated by mid-afternoon.
We just sort of hung out around the rv park this morning…….the 1st Lady made a trip to the local supermarket….Publix….WHAT a strange name!!!???…….and we began to cook a large “Boston Butt”……another dumb name for a piece of great pork. Cooking it VERY slowly, we planned to use it for dinner this evening, pulled pork sandwiches.
Our wonderful friends, Charlie and Katherine from Ontario who have wintered with us in the RGV in Texas…..left there yesterday and will be here this evening after a long pull over here from Beaumont, TX where they overnighter. Sooooo, we are having them here for dinner, whatever time they arrive and hence, the slow cooking which will be ready at any time after about 8 hours.
This afternoon, we went down the road a couple of miles to Pier Park……a very unique shopping mall which has been designed like a little town with small, narrow streets, angled parking to the sidewalks, and shops and dept stores all arranged artfully along the main street. Sooooo neat…..sooooo enjoyable.
We bought a few things for the kids for Easter…….and did a lot of just looking. Returning to the rv park…….we awaited their arrival which was a bit after 8pm. I led them into the park……to their assigned site….and then after holding the flashlight for Charlie to attach the umbilical cords from the post post/faucet to their RV, we then came over to TheHowserHouse for dinner. The 1st Lady had done a great job with the pulled pork and the bean casserole and I made a potato salad. We drank a bottle of wine….toasted our friendship and our getting together…..and talked to after 11pm!!!!
We always have such a great time with Charlie and Katherine. They were just marvelous hosts to us when we were in their hometown of Cornwall almost two years ago. We remained there for a week and they make excellent tour guides……as well as amazing friends!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow……we’ll see what the day brings. They plan to be here at least two days….and perhaps more….WE HOPE!!!!!!! While there is not a lot to do around this area as far as real sightseeing,…..it is just fun being together and enjoying each other’s company.
Ahhhhhh……..what more can I say, but…..
LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!…..And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!!
