Day 63, March 4, 2010: WOW.....WHAT A DAY...WHAT AN EVENING!!!!!

The morning began slowly.....and after some coffee....the 1st Lady and I did a small walking tour of the downtown area. Great old buildings, squares, park.........very impressed with this town!!!

We did lunch......lightly,......and then met Jay and A-m at the Malaga Hotel, just across the street from our hotel. They have entire hotel booked solid for the wedding guests....and they began arriving during the early afternoon, most by plane from ....everywhere. Some of our former students....friends of Jay's....from F'town arrived by car the middle of the afternoon.

We went with Jay/A-m to the main place were they were registered....and picked up some gifts....and then on to her grandmother's home in the Spring Hill area. "MayMay", her grandmother....is a hoot!!!!! Soooo much the Matriarch of the family.....her dad's mother. There we visited and then they opened more gifts which had arrived at the house........sooooo many beautiful, beautiful silver serving pieces, pitchers, candlestick holders, platters, etc., etc. WOW.....and then some of her wine goblets that were on their registered lists.

We hurried out to the airport, where the 1st Lady's sister and her son, Justin, had arrived. I picked up our rental car....and back to the hotels we went. The Hospitality Room in the Malaga Hotel.....a unique, very French hotel where most of the younger guests are staying was filling up quickly......we went by to check on the set-ups there.....and things were being put in order by the bar tender which they had hired for the weekend.

Returning to our hotel........Becky and Rachel from Cape G. arrived.....and at the same time so did Dr. Jeni, Darrel, and Meghan, Ava, and Max. Lots of hugs and squeals of delight from the kids as we have not seen them since we left on Jan 1st. Then....it was hurry, hurry hurry to get ready to leave for the evening's cocktail party....

We dressed and then walked over to the Malaga to the Hospitality Room where everyone was gathering. Saw many friends from F'town and others of Jay's friends from across the country that have worked for him, and with him, in various national political campaigns. Ann-marie's friends from NYC and England were arriving all day.......a busy place. Drinks and Champagne were flowing fast and furious....and lots of laughter and hugs......

The chartered bus arrived at 6:30 and we boarded to go out to Spring Hill for the party. MayMay was the "tour guide" and discussed the old areas that we drove through, pointing out the historical aspects of this section of town. Arriving at the home of Ann-Marie's uncle.....the outdoor lighting was festive and the place quickly filled up, inside and outside on the rear patio. A large fireplace was going......propane heating towers were going.....and the incredible food stations were gorgeous!!!!!

There must have been 150 people there when everyone arrived.....and the bar tenders on the patio were kept busy with drink requests. Servers wandered around with huge trays laden with fresh shrimp, oysters, fried green tomatoes,......inside was tons of grits, rice, fresh gumbo, and sooooo many other foods and appetizers. The food never stopped coming.....they were cooking the shrimp and oysters outside at cooking stations....and the servers never stopped giving out the wonderful hot foods they had on their wandering trays. WHAT AN EVENING!!!!!!!

It was sooooo much fun.......such a grand, elegant party for Jay and Anne-marie!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best in my memory!!! WOW...WOW....WOW!!!!!!!!!! One of the photographers that they have hired from NYC had flown out yesterday and was taking tons of pictures and videos......recording peoples thoughts, etc., etc. And the food kept coming.....and the drinks kept coming.....and the guests all relaxed.....and it was AMAZING!!!!!

The bus left about 10:45pm for the hotels.........and we returned and fell into bed last night,....hence.....my writing this morning. I will stop and get some pictures uploaded....I hope. In 30 minutes I have to leave....as all of the men in the wedding are spending a few hours on a large sailboat this morning/afternoon out on the Bay!!!!! Sooo, we have to leave momentarily....

WOW....WHAT A DAY!!!!!!! WHAT AN EVENING!!!!!!! FUN!!!!!!

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT.....SOOOOO GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
