Day 16; Ugly weather......but a great time anyway!!

No sun visible today...the temps reached into the middle to upper 40's.....and from time to time a misty drizzle fell down upon us and and the palm trees. UNUSUAL weather for down here........definitely an out of the ordinary, average type of January day for the southern tip of Texas.

We hung around TheHowserHouse this morning. Since we were going to a carry-in buffet supper this evening, I prepared my Tex-Mex Jambalaya and let it simmer and become more flavorful in the crock pot all afternoon. We went out to find the Post Office.....and after that, we went a few short miles to an Outlet Mall......over 100 stores (so they say).

I am setting a personal best for myself.....this is the second outlet mall that I have visited in the past month without.....WITHOUT purchasing one item!!! WOW.....that is exciting as I am a shopper guy....and I just don't need another item of any type.........remember the previous posts: NO MORE STUFF!!!!!

Returning to TheHowserHouse......we got things prepared for the 5pm dinner. There was a large crowd there with some really, really good food dishes........I ate way tooooo much!!! We sat with two couples from Kansas......one couple had been teachers and so we had a lot in common.
So, we sat and talked for almost an hour following the dinner.

At 7:30 there was to be a Line Dance....and with the 1st Lady taking lessons several times each week, we stayed for that. There must have been close to 100 dancers out there. I am not a line dancer......but, I did enjoy sitting with several others and watching the dancers. The 1st Lady did well for the short time she has been going to lessons.........!!!! And.....more importantly, she really, really enjoys doing it!!!

And so......with the forecast the same for tomorrow.......we have some plans anyway. We are going to a square dance.....yep, still can't believe I loved doing that soooo much the other day......and then we may take in a movie in McAllen.

Down here.....the wonderful, friendly people....the friends that we are making, the fun that we are having, the incredible activites for anyone who wants to jump in and do, and again.....the FRIENDLY people, both Americanos an Mexicanos........this is just a GREAT PLACE to be!!!!!!

And soooooo....

Life is GREAT....and I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
