Yesterday....Monday.....we had decided to not hurry around to get to DW....and then after a relaxed morning of swimming and, for the girls...some homework assignments.....the 1st Lady and I left after lunch and went out to explore. Dr Jeni/Darrel and all four kids went back to the Magic Kingdom so that they could have some pics made with the princesses, etc, etc.
The 1st Lady and I decided to go on over to Orlando to one of our favorite places.....West Elm....a home decor and furniture store in the contemporary mode. We had shopped there in Philadelphia two weeks ago, purchasing a small table to place by one of our living room chairs......and, after getting it home, we really do love it!!! Soooo, finding out that there was one of these great stores in Orlando, we KNEW we had to visit it, as we are now looking for two chairs to replace some older wing-back chairs we have had since the Eldon Era of our lives.
We spent about an hour there, but did not purchase anything. From there, we stopped at Crate and Barrel, another favorite shop of ours which we shop at in Chicago and STL for home decor items. This was was a small store....no furniture, but some home decor and glassware/kitchen items. We found some great buys on new glasses for everyday use and so we bought about a dozen glasses while we there. They wrapped them really well and so we are taking them back with us next week.
Then we stopped at a couple of "souvenir" shops to look for some little items for the kids. Did find a few things and got them for the kids before we found out that it was about time for dinner. Soooo, we selected TGI Friday's and had a nice little dinner there. Returning to the house......we were just a few minutes ahead of Dr Jeni/Darrel.....and, after they arrived the kids went swimming again before heading to bed.
It was a great relaxing day......and soooo......
TODAY, Tuesday: We were up early as we had made plans to leave about 8:30AM for DW and the Animal Kingdom as our day's activities. The day was spent in getting "Fast Track" passes, and then hurrying and hurrying to arrive at these places in time. Animal Kingdom was PACKED all day long.....WHEW!!!! There were thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of people and kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many, many from all different parts of the world, sooo obvious by the languages we heard and attempted to identify by listening closely.
The day went well.....not too hot....but warmer than we have had this week. The last thing that we did was see the 30 minute show....."Celebration of The Lion King".....a marvelous production that should never be missed. We had seen it four years ago when we were hear.....and it was just as good this afternoon as it was four years ago!! We also took the Safari ride and saw tons of live animals......rhinos, elephants, many gazelle type animals, crocs of all sizes and quantities, lots of various kinds of birds....and many other animals. A GREAT trip into the "back" country of Animal Kingdom......and much better than four years ago!!
Returning to the house around 7pm after we stopped at a UPS store to use their pc and get some tickets printed for a visit to Sea World tomorrow. A special deal was being offered: buy a kid's ticket and for $5 more....and adult ticket could be purchased!!! Soooo, we got tickets for all of us for around $300....a great deal!!!!!
Supper was quick and sandwichy........and then everyone jumped into the pool/hot tub and spent the evening cavorting around in the pool!!! A fun time for the kids.....and a good way to unwind for them.
Tomorrow evening, we will be back at the house by 7pm......as we have invited Dr. Vimille Bentinganan and his lovely wife, Bambi and their daughter Alexis over to the house for the evening. Vi, a former student of mine...a fabulous tpt player and a MO All-State Band member, is now a physician here in the Orlando area. In the fall of 2000, I flew over to The Philippine Islands to do the music for their wedding....and had an incredible week there in The Philippines!!!!! Such fun we had.....and such a lovely wedding!!! A trip never to be forgotten!!! I had been in The Philippines soooo many times during the Viet Nam era when I was stationed in Southeast Asia, but this was soooo different soooo much fun!!!
And soooo, our past two days were outstanding.....and we are all looking forward to tomorrow's activities!!!! And......as usual,......
LIFE IS ABSOLUTELY, WONDERFULLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
