Thursday: Let's play back yesterday, first!

I was up at 6:30 yesterday morning....and after not even drinking my first cup of Fr. Roast.....I went outside....as far some very strange reason I kept thinking that I should probably check the tire pressures on the truck and RV. In doing so......3 of the 4 tires on the RV were fine....but OMG, OMG.....one tire which should have been right at 110 lbs, it was only 71 lbs!!!!! Shocked....I went inside, trying to figure out just what to do about this........and so, I began calling Goodyear tire shops in the general area, which are not many!! I called Cape G. and they told me to call Scott City, just south of Cape G......and after telling them the size, etc., etc., they looked and they did have a couple of new ones!!! Hooray!!

Next.....at 7:30...I called the local in town Plaza Tire Shop. Asking if they could vacate their driveway so that I could my huge rig into it, they quickly agreed and told me to call after about 20 minutes. Knowing that I had enough things to do to get ready to hook up and move the 39' 5th wheel, I called them back when I was ready to leave....and they told me to come on, as they had moved everything from their driveway/parking area. The took started to take off the sick tire....and immediately saw a nail in the groove. Removing it, they found another one right at the edge of the sidwall part of the tire. They fixed both.....and, OF COURSE,....the were rusty roofing nails. GRRRRRRRR........these were definitely nails that had flown off of roofs during the May 8th storm!!!!!

After getting it fixed....they told me that the second nail was located in a place which really weakened the side wall......and it was just a "blowout ready to happen"!!!! OMG....I told them not to put that tire back on the trailer......and as I thought through this new problem...I decided to change out the spare tire, putting it on the trailer...and using the damaged tire as only a necessary spare. WHEW......the bill was only $15.00......a great deal from Plaza Tire!!!!!

Back to the stick and brick.......the remainder of the day was spent in continually loading items that we just "have to have" on this journey. By 7pm.....the contractor and his roofing crew had finished the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After seven days of working on it, we had a ton of new wood for the decking, new shingles, 475 feet of all new guttering, a repaired chimney......and the house looks great!!!! After writing him a HUGE check.....we knew we were on our way out of hot and humid Misery and heading to the mountains with cooler and drier air!!!

TODAY.....

We were up early, finished putting in the last items from our kitchen, and by 8AM....we pulled out of the driveway...and 10 minutes later we were on the highway. We had made reservations in an unknown to us RV Park in Paxico, Kansas for tonight......and after 8 hours of easy driving, lunch at a rest stop, one gas stop.....we arrived at the RV Park....and we were happily surprised. Never knowing just what you are going to find when making reservations for a site......it was beautiful!!!! GREEN.....expertly manicured....friendly staff in the office....and easy, easy access to all pull-through sites.....just great..and, only $25 and change. The only drawback: we are about 150 feet from the railroad tracks.....with the Union Pacific freight trains going by VERY frequently!!!!!! We will see how many awaken us tonight!

Tomorrow, we will go to to Stasburg, Colorado....just east of Denver, where we have reservations at an RV park there. From there on Sat morning, it is only about 80 miles or so!!!

It has been a very good day.....and the relief from knowing that most of our house is now repaired from the three months ago inland hurricane which struck out community. And so.....as always.......

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
