This morning.....beautiful!!!! We pulled out of the RV Park in Paxico at 8am......drove about 30 miles to Junction City, where we stopped to fill up with diesel fuel. This didn't take long....and soon we are on the road again. By the time we got to the Salina area..... the winds had picked up and were hitting us from the side....dragging our speed waaaaayyyyy down....and then we got into these LONG hills....not steep, but just slow and long....and so, with the heavy buffeting winds, it took us a long time to get through that hour or longer part of the highway. I had to really fight to get the truck to stay in the correct gear.....the winds hitting us and throwing us to the shoulder....and then the erratic speeds made this hour plus.....hell on wheels.
Finally, we got out of that section of the state....the winds calmed down...and after a bit later, we stopped for a bite of lunch. The weather was perfect......but, as we went further west, we ran into the heavy winds again around Oakley and points west....making it really hard to keep the rig on the highway. But....as we crossed into Colorado, we did get out of those winds....and the rest of the way to Strasburg went just fine. Leaving at 8am.....and arriving here at 5pm.....exhausting it had been.
This Strasburg KOA......well, unless necessary I seriously doubt we would stop here again. It is packed tighter than a sardine, it is rather messy with gravel everywhere....and just clustered and cluttered together. Guess we were spoiled last night????? Yep...sure as hell we were!!!
Then the Wifi began to act strangely....and soon it was impossible to get on Wifi from TheHowserHouse.....not far from the office area where the router was located. Talking with the lady at the desk, she had no clue....had someone reset it....and still no luck at our rig. And, it wasn't just my pc....but we started up the 1st Lady's....and hers would not work either. Yet....finally came over here to the tables by the office....and hopefully, I will be able to get this posted. I am still connected right now....so I will close and get this out into cyberspace for all to muddle through.......
Tomorrow we join the 1st Lady's brother/wife in Estes Park...up in the mountains next to Rocky Mt. National Park.....and not sure if I will have wifi/internet service there in their condo, or not. Sooooo, if you do not hear from me.....fear not....I will attempt to post a line or two on here by iPhone, but do not enjoy writing very much with two thumbs or index fingers!!!! Soooooo.....we are off to the mts. They have already arrived today up there, and told us a minute ago that it was very chilly there!!!! Will pack jeans to take up there....as we will store TheHowserHouse in an RV park in Loveland, Co......about 30 miles from Estes Park.
And sooooo, a frustrating day on the road.....and even more frustrating here at this KOA. $40 for the night.....a bit high, but then all KOA's are over-priced and over-rated.....eh????? Perhaps it is just our opinions, but we really do hesitate to even stay at them any more. Oh well......
Hey.....you know, even with this kind of a day...which does not happen often to us.......it could be sooooo damn much worse....right?????? Soooo,......as always......
LIFE IS JUST REALLY,REALLY GREAT!!!!!!...And, I hope it is for all of you, also!! (and I hope we have Wifi soon!)
