OMG.....how one does forget the constant attention and the amount of your time three small children demand!!!!!!!! We left F'town early yesterday morning, arriving in the area of Washington, MO at Dr. Jeni's home about 9:15 am........and then about two hours later, we called the sitter's home and told her we would pick up Ava and Max after they had had their lunches....and before nap time.
Which we did! They were excited to see us.....and, of course, they did not get "down" for their naps quite a quickly as they were supposed to do. But.....we enjoyed them prior to getting them into their own bedrooms and beds. However......as to be expected, Ava did not go to sleep but finally worked her way back out into the great room where we were hanging out. The 1st Lady was doing a bit of cleaning.....and getting some dishes put away from the dishwasher.
And so....at 2:30pm, I took the car and ran around the few curves for one mile to arrive at the "country" elementary school of the Wash. School District. An interesting and safe way to pick up the children at the end of the day: The buses arrive in the parking lot/front of the school door early....and then as the parents arrive the form a line in their cars behind the buses, curving around the parking lot.....AND, the most important security plan.....each parent/car has a certain colored card with them which has the child's name on it......it is collected from each car prior to the children being released after the buses leave....and then as each car moves forward, the child is released to the parent/grandparent and the child then brings the card back into the car to be left there for the next time they are to be picked up from school. A well thought out plan!!!!!!!!
Arriving home, Meghan as always was bursting with energy. A small snack is always expected by her....and then following that came some active play time!!!! Very active!!!!!!!!! The 1st Lady=Grammy fixed supper for the kids and ourselves......and that is always an interesting time as Max commands our attention in his high chair. But.......she had fixed things that they all liked and supper went smoothly.
Play time always presents some greed with the thousands....literally!!!....of toys and small riding toys.....and so a referee or two is always needed to keep confrontations between them to a minimum. By 8:30, everyone except Meghan was in bed....and she then went to her room and watched a DVD.....as each bedroom has their own tellie....with many DVD's suitable for their individual ages. Soooo great that their home is very large with lots and lots of play room on the lower level below the Great Room and bedrooms.........room for those thousands of toys!!! HAHA!!
SATURDAY:
The kids were up before me, as I slept in a bedroom which is on the lower level. After breakfast.....it is Saturday, so it is Playday.....all day long. We will have to leave by noon....and hopefully, Dr. Jeni and Darrel will return from their very, very quick trip to Nashville by that time. We have a dinner party beginning at 6pm to attend this evening......and so we need to scurry down the road in order to get ready for the evening.
And soooo, more of this day perhaps tonight???? But.....as always.....
LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
