Day 36: Traveled to the PEI....and are with our Cedar Creek Friends!!!

Awake and going by 7am……and with the Fr. Roast in my cup and the cup in my hand…..I was soon outside and began to do the emptying of the holding tanks, putting away the hoses, and then after the 1st Lady was up and going…..I finalized the storing of the interior items and moving the den furniture so that the two slides would roll in without any interference.

By 8:45, we were pulling out onto the highway……and with some very dark threatening skies, we hurried on up the road to try to get through the drastic road construction before the rains would turn it to muddy slush. Luckily, we did get through those few miles before the rains began to drip on us as we continued north to Muncton….and then east to the coast….and finally, crossing the Confederation Bridge….the world’s longest continuous marine expanse over ice-covered waters joining Prince Edward Island and mainland New Brunswick…….a 12.9 kilometers of the Northumberland Strait.

It was raining all the way across and the pictures did not take very well….with raindrops on the windshield!! Once in the PEI, we stopped at the first Tourist Information area….and found ourselves immersed in items made for, and in, the PEI…..a virtual tourist junk area.

Then, after about another hour through the countryside of the PEI, heading north by northwest over narrow roads with no shoulders…..we arrived in the Cavendish area. Still raining….it was 12 noon when we checked in at the KOA there where I had made reservations yesterday for three nights. We were assigned “The Honeymoon Site”…..do NOT ask me why!!!!! We had nothing to do with that….but, the site is large with a huge grassy area and our door and one of the den windows looks out over the wonderfully green meadows and pastures…..and not very far in the distance, we can see the waters of the St. Lawrence Gulf which lies between the PEI and Newfoundland!!!

We set up THH….and kicked back for awhile….and then…WOW!!!! Two large Cedar Creek RV’s rolled in….and it was Pete/Jane and Buzz/Moe!!!!! They had taken an earlier ferry over from Nova Scotia….and they arrived a couple of hours before we expected them to arrive. They have the sites right next to us…….GREAT!!!!!!!! This KOA is full…or very close to it….so I feel lucky to have been given a site when I called yesterday morning.

We talked and laughed for some time as they get their rv’s set up and hooked up….and then the rains began in earnest..and so we all enjoyed our own RV’s while the rains pelted down on top of us. Ahhhhh, the joy of having your own “things”, your own bed, your own kitchen, your own clothes hanging in your closet…….just like at home, only with a bit less space!!!!! And…..it is on wheels which allows you to go wherever you like and stop for the night….and within a few minutes you are in your own home again!

We all decided to go out to a seafood restaurant……and OMG!!!!!! My sagging hulk must be sagging by about 2-3 pounds more now after that incredible dinner……WOW!!!! A 60 item salad, buffet line which included some fantastic mussels from the sea a few feet away…..and a dessert bar that brought me back three times!!!! The main entrée for the 1st Lady and myself was Lobster Imperial………with lobster meat in a rich, cream sauce which covered a pastry puff!!!!!!!!!!!!! To DIE for!!!! I had eaten sooooo many mussels that I thought I would begin swimming across the floor…..and then this entrée arrived and OMG…..I was almost in cuisine heaven!!! With the lobster…..a large fresh boiled potato…..and it was just sooooo damn good!!!! But….the seafood was just amazing!!!!!! So well prepared, so mouth-watering good that I am almost drooling as I think and write about it…..WOW!!!!! As I already said……I had way too many desserts and now…..I am still puffed up like that delicious pastry under the Lobster Imperial!!!! All of this …..repeat: ALL of this was only $27 and change for each of us!!!

We then all went to the local pier, walked around, and watched the sun set behind another bank of threatening clouds. On the way back to the KOA, the 1st Lady and I stopped at a local market for some fresh milk….and then made a detour down to the Cavendish Beach area…..a gorgeous area with boardwalks along the way….and I can hardly wait to see it again with the full sun bringing the sea alive!!

It is soooooo good to see our friends again!!!!!!!! We all love to travel……to rv…..to just enjoy Life each day to the fullest…..and I AM the fullest after that dinner!!! Our conversations always turn to the places we have visited, where we are going to visit next, our winter RV plans, and the great restaurants where we have eaten. And...the difficulties we have with Wifi....and I may not be able to get any pictures to upload.....so bear with me on this little problem!!!!

We have made it to the Prince Edward Island…..and next we will go to Nova Scotia later this week….and then began the trek southward to the nasty heat and humidity. But……..this is a fantastic way of living Life…..and, of course because of this……..

LIFE IS REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!……And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
