Ahhhhhh…..what a beautiful sight to awaken to this morning as I looked out our rear window!!!!! And……there were some dolphins out in the Bay frolicking around enjoying their morning while they entertained those that were awake in the campground.
I’m still battling this damn cold, basically in my chest with coughing fits more often than I would like to count……and this morning I feel it returning to my head again.…UGH!!! The REAL problem is that I cannot take any antihistamines with the plumbing meds I am taking.….OR….the plumbing problems will return full force……..WHEW, that is NOT something I want to occur, so I am cannot seem to win the fight over this stupid cold which is hell-bent to take over my body totally!! Oh well.…..a test of the endurance of the sagging hulk of Me!!!!!
After taking care of the morning rituals, and the tasks of detaching the umbilical cords and getting everything put in their proper places for the traveling we have to do today.….I poured a cup of French Roast “to go”…..and we pulled out of the RV Park about 9:15am.
It wasn’t far before we were once again driving on the ruts and gravel from the total road construction that lasted for four bone-shaking miles…..think I may have lost a pound or two from the vibrations of the rig while going over this “road”…..I think that is what it is supposed to be .…eventually…..it sure as hell is not a road right now!!
And…..for those of you who expressed some concerns about TheHowserHouse going UP the 13% grade that we descended three days ago.…..NOT a problem!!!!! And, the real winner is the F350 FORD….I repeat: FORD truck which always seems to live up to the tasks that I give it to do!!!!
Soooo, after one missed turn we found ourselves on Highway 1, a four lane road which was a beautiful road to drive on, both for the beauty of the scenery and the smoothness of the road itself!! New Brunswick has some wonderful.…just fantastic highways!!!!!! Kudos to this Province for their great highways!!!!!!
EDITED: We thought we saw Bob and Sue Lyon in their rig headed south out of Sussex....and after reading their Cedar Creek Forum post.....it WAS our good friends from California!!! Wish we had known....we could have had some coffee or an early lunch. Ready your post on the CCRVOC Forum, Bob/Sue. I replied there, also.
It wasn’t long before we were soon listening to Garmin as he guided us around Moncton and onto the narrow, shoulder-less highway which leads down along the Bay of Fundy and to the tiny little village of Hopewell…….where the Rocks which have been formed from the cliffs and sandstone bluffs by the ebb and flow twice daily each way…. of the LARGEST tides in the entire world!!!!!! Here the tide is frequently 46.…FORTY-SIX….feet!!!!! Just think how high that really is!!!! Almost 5 stories high……WOW!!
We found our campground….not an RV park….and managed to back into the site we were assigned. The Wifi has to be used at the office.….will not reach out at all, so this is being written about 6pm so I can hopefully post it tonight. Anyway….we are here for tow nights..…and all is fine in THH here.
We had a quick lunch and then drove the mile to the Hopewell Rocks Park…….OMG, OMG!!!!!!!! UNREAL!!!! The tide was at it’s lowest today when we arrived…..and when we descended the staircase to the floor of the ocean.…….OMG!!!! These mammoth sections of the bluffs are called “flower pots” as they stand alone away from the bluffs….and there are full grown trees on top of these rock sections!! Hence…..the “flower pot” effect! We walked along the ocean floor for almost two hours….on sandstone, rocks, boulders, sand, and mud.……and our mouths were hanging open with the sights which we were seeing.
I had seen pictures of this place in tourism brochures but seeing this in person simply make those....and the ones I took…..not nearly as impressive….NOT NEARLY!!!!! I am not happy with the pictures I will post because they do not show a good perspective and relationship to the things around them.……they awe that we were left with is just not evident in this photos of mine.
It is so difficult to believe that this tide can reach it’s high point and then six hours later reach it’s low point.……and to realize just how much water must come in, and leave, to do this work of forming the holes, the monsters of sandstone, the other formations..….and many of them with trees and green fauna and flowers on top of them.
It is no wonder that we brushed shoulders with soooooo many people today who were from all over the world…….languages I could not identify were heard on the floor of the ocean as we carefully picked our way along it.
After two hours or so of walking and pointing and taking pictures..…we returned to the staircase and climbed back to the top of the bluffs. There are signs that said to be certain to return by 5:30 today .…low tide was at 2:39pm……or we would be caught in the tide someplace and not be able to get out and back to the top!!!!!! OK…..that is NOT something we wanted to experience!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow morning we will return so that we can see the high tide at 9:03am…..and see where we cannot walk at that time…..hahaha. There are kayaks that can be rented and paddled around those same places…..but, since I drowned in a previous Life, I will not rent any at this point in this Life!!!!
So, we returned to the campground…..and I just put my battle weary (from the head and chest cold), sagging hulk of Me on the sofa for about an hour in a horizontal position. This cg is FULL….and I do need to get this posted this evening after I have a HOT bowl of soup for supper.…..will it help my cold??? Doubt it, but sure sounds good, though!!!
And so.….another new experience today.….another oddity of Nature enjoyed and wondered about.….a place visited I never thought I would ever see(like Egypt last fall), and more unique places to see and visit in this area of the Bay of Fundy…..tomorrow!!
Ahhhhh, you know it, don’t you???? You just know that..….
LIFE IS SOOOO INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!…….And, I sure hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!
