OMG........another day filled with dancing, fantastic weather, and just the very best of new-found friends from Canada and America!!!! What more can be asked for???
Up at 7, I fixed my Fr. Roast coffee(I ground the beans last night), read the online newspapers, and then awakened the 1st Lady at 8am. She bounded downstairs saying that she was not going to her line dancing class this morning, but.....that WE were going to square dance at Casa Del Sol from 10-12 noon, then from 1:30 to 3:30 this afternoon here at Llano Grande, and then tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Peppermint Palace. OK.........
So, we fixed some breakfast for each of us.....we always do our own thing for breakfast.......and before I had had my third cup of that wonderful dark, rich Fr. Roast coffee, it was time to leave for Casa Del Sol. The weather was just a perfect day......PERFECT!!!! The cool front had roared through here yesterday evening and the humidity was gone, the sky was bright and clear, and the temps were in the 60's.......GREAT!!! It was a great 2 hours this morning......and we quickly returned to TheHowserHouse for a little bite of lunch.
This afternoon, after the 1st Lady had a chain problem on her bike, we arrived at the Rec Hall a bit late and received a "standing ovation" when we walked in.......actually, everyone was already standing, ready to dance......hahaha! Another two quick hours on the dance floor as we perfected some of the calls that we must learn.....60+ calls.....before we can dance "mainstream" with everyone else. Following the dancing, we decided along with four other couples......wonderful new friends....that we would all eat at the Wednesday night buffet at the Rec Hall....and then drive to The Peppermint Palace for this evening's dance.
We returned to TheHowserHouse and a few minutes later, Ron and Linda....fulltimers(their home is their rv and they travel as nomads as do the thousands of other fulltimers)......they arrived to help the 1st Lady get her chain back onto her bike. It was more than just a couple of minutes job......and took Ron about 15 minutes to get it fixed. THANKS RON!!!
Then........we went to the Rec Hall to eat......and it was a fairly good meal. The camaraderie was great around the table........and made the dinner very enjoyable. Then.....we loaded up in to vehicles and we off to the west side of McAllen for the evening's dance.
WOW......what a great evening!!!!! Sooooooo damn much fun.......and I know most of you cannot relate to this type of dancing, but it is not the physical challenge, but it IS the mental challenge that is there when the caller calls out the "moves" that must be accomplished with the music and with the three other couples besides the 1st Lady and myself,......or whomever we are dancing with......and to get these done without faltering and screwing up the square. If we were perfect it would not be nearly as much fun as when we miss something and we flounder around attempting to get it fixed and to get back to the calls that have already been made and that we are behind on. Such amazing fun.........!!!!!!
Afterwards......we returned to Llano Grande and went to Doug and Diane's motorhome for a few drinks. It is beautiful motorhome.......and as the evening continued the laughter, the stories shared, the hilarious antics of Diane........and the great drinks that Doug poured all contributed to one of the most hilarious and fun evenings that we have had since we came down here to the Valley!!!!! We are an incredible group of friends from both Alberta and Ontario, Canada....as well as the rest of us from the states.........!!!
There are many French speaking Canadians from Quebec here in the park and all over the Valley.....and with the Latinos and Mexicans that live here and just across the border, three miles away.......it is really great to be able to use the French that I know....and the Spanish that I know.....and sometimes I get words and phrases mixed and combined and it becomes quite funny to all whom I am talking with or to others who are listening!!!! I can hardly wait to get to Quebec this summer where I can use and improve my French while in that Province of Canada.
(Reference to last night's post about being a citizen of the world) I am beginning to already lose some of the Arabic that I learned when we were in Egypt and Jordan three months ago......DAMN!!! Oh to be fluent in many languages!!!!!!!!!
Sooooo difficult for many of you to understand the closeness that has developed among the friends that we have made down here!!!! We have shared sooooo much, laughed sooooo much, and talked soooo much over the past few weeks that we have been together........and we are hoping to visit with each other whenever it is possible. With our current plans of going to Nova Scotia this summer, we will see those from Ontario.....and hopefully, Doug and Diane from Alberta when they travel through the states this fall. Ron and Linda and Danny and Donna will be in and about and hopefully our paths will cross also.
And so.......what a grand day!!! The "marathon of dancing" has left us exhausted, but pumped up with the good times we had today!!!! I look at the calendar and know that these fantastic times are soon going to come to a close as everyone departs for their own destinations for the next months........we are all nomads here in North America!!!!! This wonderful RV lifestyle is THE BEST!!!!!! WOW.....most of you have no idea just how much of LIFE you are missing!!!!!! However,.........with the day like this that we just experienced, it accentuates the fact that......
LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!........And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
