GORGEOUS DAY!!!!! Bring on more of these!!
WOW.....what a great morning to sit on the patio and sip my Fr. Roast coffee, made from freshly ground Starbuck's coffee beans!!! Yep....even with TheHowserHouse being a FULL house with all three granddaughters, Dr. Jeni, and Becky overnighting here......it was fun and really quite tame! For some reason I was not the first person out of the bed this morning......because when I came into the main area of the house, I heard the chatter of the girls playing and enjoying their time together.
Breakfast was just whatever anyone wanted......and before long I was simply wandering around the yard...checking on my recently planted herbs in the herb garden....and seeing if the Azalea bushes were going to bloom or if they frost last week did them in. Most the bushes are in bloom....somewhat....and the damaged blooms/buds are not going to make it. I have one small bush that didn't make it through the miserable winter here......will have to replace it...and add some more this week.
With a bite of lunch for everyone, we then drove down the hill to the Park areas where the Azalea Festival was in progress, having started on Thursday evening and continuing through this evening. Of course, our destination was the carnival area.......as the three girls could hardly wait to begin enjoying the many varied rides that were there to entice them. The 1st Lady purchased $60 worth of tickets....and Dr. Jeni later added to that amount with another $16 worth of tickets. Most rides are from $2-$3 each.....so the tickets don't last long!! I really believe that it is time F'town joined the rest of the world and offered arm bands for one price.....and then allowed the wearers to ride as much as they want to ride!!!! As usual, F'town is lagging in more up-to-date ideas that most other communities have and utilize!
As Becky and Rachel had to return home for another invited event, they left around 2pm...and the 1st Lady, Dr. Jeni and daughters remained until 4pm riding and riding and riding!!! Soon after returning to the top of Buford Heights....Dr. Jeni and girls began the two hour plus drive back to their home in the countryside. From then on, the 1st Lady and I took care of some of the necessities of getting ready for another week.......one which will find me hiding out somewhere on Thursday evening, as the 1st Lady has her sorority sisters over here to TheHowserHouse stick and brick for a scheduled meeting.
And sooooo, another busy day, albeit a very wonderful day thanks to the Festival and to the marvelous weather.......all of this has now passed and it is getting a bit later than usual for me to be creating........
Been doing some thinking about the new GPS system I received for my birthday....a bit late, but mucho appreciated. It doesn't have one feature that I would like to have....so going to check on other models....looking for one that does speak the names of the streets and give the amount of time to the destination, rather than not say anything other than sooo many feet until I am to turn. Think the street name calling is important....and would like to know the amount of time to the destination.......just small details, but ones I would like to have.
Nevertheless........it has been a great weekend.......and, as always, come hell or high water.....

Another two day post........
Ahhhh, what the hell happened to me last night???? I fell asleep on the sofa and when I woke up, I was in no mood to write, so..........
Yesterday is now a blur......other than realize that I spent over an hour....about an hour and a half.....standing at the window at the Wal Mart Pharmacy as the pharmacy, the W-M main offices, and my insurance company worked on trying to get the damned computer system with W-M corrected. They would not pay for my prescriptions....as supposedly I had some other "primary" insurance.....HA!!!! Just paying for one policy is enough....never mind to have two. When I completed my forms for Medicare, I did not sign up for the prescription part of Medicare as I want to keep the one I have had for 20 years here with the school district. Anway....after numerous phone calls, many calls being put on hold, and then more conferences, the computer system at W-M was corrected......and then I received my meds. During all of that time of waiting and standing, I inquired as to the cost of the two meds I am using for the plumbing problem.....and if I didn't have the insurance, they would each be $98.00 for 30 pills!!! That would be OVER $6.00 each day just so I can ............you-know-what!!!!!!! DAMN!!!
Today......it was a beautiful day.....much different than yesterday morning when we had this line of severe thunderstorms come through the area, winds causing havoc around here, and tons of rains along with the winds, driving the rain against the side of the house and windows. Sooooo, I got out and mowed the yard.......took a bit less than three hours this time as I didn't have many sticks and limbs to pick up as I did after the entire winter's devastation to the trees the last time I mowed. Then this afternoon..........well, we waited for Dr. Jeni and Meghan and Rachel to arrive.....and they did about the middle of the afternoon.
I received a late BD present from them.......a Garmin Navigation System for our travels!!!! I have been looking at them and thinking it would be nice to have....and VOILA!!!! I now have one!
This evening I grilled some burgers.....and then around 7:30pm, Becky and Rachel arrived....AND.....we had our family birthday celebration for Rachel's 10th BD which was last week. More presents, more excitement, more cake!!!! Another big time for her....!!!!
And so, the day ends, or is beginning to end, as the "girls are going wild" here in the stick and brick.....but they are having a great time running from the den to the media room with a large tellie in each place.......enjoying the fun and excitement of just being together.

Busy all day......and feeling VERY PROUD of Rachel!!!!
UGH!!!!! I was up at 5:30 this morning......began the coffee brewing process....and then completed my morning rituals. Then......the 1st Lady was up and getting ready and by 7:15 we were on the road to Cape. We picked up Becky....and spent the morning and early afternoon visiting Mike.
Dropping Becky off at the house, the 1st Lady and I then went to LensCrafters to get my "new" pair of sunglasses, a replacement for the ones that I have had for several months. I have never been able to have them adjusted so that they fit correctly, so last month they ordered me a different pair....and today I needed to pick them up. And that I did........
Not sure I am satisfied with them.....these are the dark blue/green lenses...and the ones I had were the amber, which I really did like. Perhaps I will adjust to them........a couple of days might do the trick, however.......rain is returning tomorrow.....UGH, again!!!!
After getting the glasses, the 1st Lady and I hurried over to Applebee's for a quick lunch. Oh by the way....I was pleasantly surprised at my sandwich........the Bruschetta Hamburger on focacia bread with the usual tomato, onion, basil, etc., etc and chunks of mozzarella cheese. Yep.....this is a hamburger that I will order again.......it was prepared perfectly and was really nice and browned and yet....very juicy!!!! YUM!!!! Perhaps....perhaps I just got lucky with this one???
Then we rushed over to the Jefferson Elementary School to attend our granddaughter, Rachel's graduation .......from 4th grade. Yep......they had a small, but nice little graduation as these fourth graders are going to Middle School next fall. We were particularly proud as the school had had competition to design the T-shirts for the "graduates" to wear today.......and Rachel's design WON!!!!! And....so all of the kids were wearing "her" t-shirts!!!!
She has done really well this year.....her first year in school in the Cape school district. She has won a few other competitions in various fields, as well as do some outstanding work with her creative writing talents!!!! The 1st Lady and I are sooooooo PROUD of RACHEL!!!!!
Returning to the stick and brick........we just kicked back and watched "Survivor" and a few other shows on the tellie. And soooooo, it feels good to not have any scheduled activity tomorrow........and with the rains expected, perhaps it will be a lazy day???? (I doubt it!)
A good day.....a day to be very proud........a day to be certain that.......
